January 24, 2009 - Tournament of the Boar
February 21,2009 - Green Mountains Tournament
March 21, 2009 - Tournament of the Deer and he Liont
The action that is soon to take place at the Tejon Ranch Equestrian Center's indoor arena in Lebec, California will be the best Medieval style sport jousting in the world.
These four tournaments will be judged and scored according to the rules & guidelines of the American Jousting Alliance. They will include some of the best knights, warriors and war horses in jousting today.
Tournament jousting will make up one category of competition with its's own winner. The three skill-at-arms games of Ring Spearing, Shield Quintain Hitting and Spear Throwing will continue to make up the other category with its own winner. Champions will be determined at the end of each tournament with overall point champions or Grapevine Jousting Series Champions being determined by including points from all four tournaments.
Jousting equipment will be awarded as prizes. We are also trying to put together cash prizes.
There will be a variety of other fun activities, demonstrations and contests for everyone to enjoy. Some of these contests that patrons are invited to participate in are archery, spear throwing, and shield quintain hitting (on foot not on horse-back) and sack racing. Other activitie and demonstrations include dirt skiing, tree planting, sword play, and falconry. Some of our activities will vary from tournament to tournament.
Doors open at 11:00 A.M. with the tournament beginning at 2:00 P.M. An activities schedule will be posted prior to each event.
